Why we built LED_O

The traditional stack light has been the default choice for machine status and alarm indication for decades. It does the job — but only just. A red, amber, or green lamp tells an operator something is wrong. It does not tell them what is wrong, where to look, or what to do next.

LED_O was built to change that. By replacing a stack light with a networked RGB display panel, operators get real information at a glance — live process values, alarm messages, colour-coded status, and configurable thresholds — all controlled directly from the PLC or SCADA they already use.

The goal was always a product that an automation or controls engineer could wire in, commission from a browser, and connect to a PLC over Modbus TCP in under an hour — without proprietary software, middleware, or specialist training.

Who we are

Midlands Electronic Solutions is a small UK engineering team based in Stoke-on-Trent. Our background is in automation and control systems, and that practical experience shapes every decision we make about how LED_O works. We design the hardware, write the firmware, and support the product ourselves. When you contact us, you speak to the people who built it.
